Amtrak is restoring service after a slew of practice cancellations, primarily within the Midwest on account of “a rail-industry control system that continues to experience intermittent communications issues,” in keeping with Amtrak spokesperson W. Kyle Anderson.

The trade management system is used to hook up with different railroads, Anderson stated. Amtrak trains can function on freight rail strains, so the trains have to hook up with freight railroads to start their journey – that communication was down.
