As she approached the moving bag, she was a bit scared. Obviously, she didn’t know what would be in the bag, so you have to be scared, right? Well, she moved over to the bag slowly and tore it open. And what she saw inside made her physically ill and brought tears to her eyes. Inside the bag was an adorable little puppy. He was very lively and very affectionate. When he saw Melissa, he started wagging his tail and jumping around. 
When she picked him up, he began licking her face to let her know how happy he was that he was found. The puppy was wearing a collar, which showed Nala said that he did once belong to someone. Unfortunately, it didn’t have any identification. She couldn’t in good conscience just leave the little puppy there on the side of the road alone.
She knew that if she left him there, even if he wasn’t in the bag, she would be just as bad as the person who put him there to begin with. So she put the puppy in her car and took him to work with her. When school let out that day, Melissa picked up her two sons and introduced them to the puppy.
She was worried about the puppy’s health, so to make sure he was healthy, she took him to the vet. The vet told her the puppy was no older than probably eight weeks old. After the exam, the vet gave the puppy his shots, and Melissa took him home. She couldn’t help but wonder how the puppy got there on the side of the road. She wondered if somebody took him from his home and left him there, or maybe his owners were cruel and did this themselves.
Later that evening, she posted a picture of the puppy online. Along with the photo, she included a caption that read, “If this is your puppy, let me know. If you are the scoundrel who put it in a garbage bag and tossed it on the side of the road, you’re a sicko.” After posting her photo, Melissa contacted Animal Control and the Sheriff’s Department. Both agencies wanted to know who would do such a thing to such a little helpless animal. Sadly, the chances of them finding the culprit were slim to none.
