Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch lately broke down his growth plan for rookie Leonard Miller.
(through Minnesota Timberwolves):
“We’re working on trying to firm up a role and a style of play for him. He’s never had anyone kinda connect all the dots for him, he’s just always kinda gone out and played. Which is great, I think that’s where some of his feel comes from, but you have to kinda rein him in a little bit. We need him to run. We need him to roll more. We need him to value being in the dunker. These are things that are going to get him opportunities early in his career before you allow him to play with the ball and that kind of stuff, but you can see he has some real natural feel with the ball in his hands. You don’t always know how it’s going to end up, but he’s fearless, and we like that. He reminds us a little bit of Vando (Jarred Vanderbilt) when Vando was here. Also a ball-hawk, better with the ball than you thought, good feel for the game, that kind of stuff. And he shoots it well, he’s got a foundation I think to improve that shot. So obviously lots to work on there, but he’s an exciting young player and a really good kid. He’s soaking it all up right now.”
