Contrary to Tony Parker’s assertion over the weekend, indicating that Gordon Herbert would take over ASVEL’s bench on Monday, the Canadian-Finnish head coach is not going to be making the transfer to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
In an interview with Kicker, the 64-year-old coach revealed that the German basketball federation just isn’t permitting him to teach the French membership whereas sustaining his place on the helm of Germany.
“I discussed with the DBB the possibility of coaching ASVEL and remaining the national coach at the same time. The DBB did not support the idea. I accept that. I would never do it without the association’s approval and support,” Herbert stated.
