The Mavericks acquired Kyrie Irving from the Nets in a blockbuster commerce. Former NBA star Spud Webb thinks that the 2016 NBA champion will take off a few of the scoring load off of Luka Doncic and can make the staff higher.

“Well, we are always looking here for, I guess we can say a second man to help Luka out and take some of the pressure off,” Webb instructed Basketball Insiders. “That is what Kyrie can hopefully bring to the Mavericks and help Luka be more fresh at the end of games- that’s one way I look at it.

“He’s on a winning team, not saying Brooklyn wasn’t a winning team but this team went to the Western Conference Finals last year minus Brunson, who’s gone to New York. I just don’t know how it doesn’t make them a better team.”
