Suzie Bates led a return to type by New Zealand’s batters as they scored 189 for 3 of their Women’s T20 World Cup match in opposition to Bangladesh at Newlands in Cape Town on Friday. Bates hit 81 not out and have become the primary lady from any nation to achieve 1000 runs in T20 World Cups. It was a dramatic turnaround for the White Ferns who notched the best whole of the event after being bowled out for the 2 lowest of their first two matches — 76 in opposition to Australia and 67 in opposition to South Africa.
They misplaced their first two matches by massive margins, successfully ending their probabilities of reaching the semi-finals.
Bates and Bernardine Bezuidenhout (44) laid the inspiration with a first-wicket stand of 77 in 8.4 overs, whereas Maddy Green thrashed an unbeaten 44 off 20 balls to assist Bates add 73 within the final seven overs.
Bates scored her runs off 61 balls and hit seven fours and a six.
