Barcelona is taking Zenit St. Petersburg to sport’s highest courtroom in pursuit of a bonus fee it missed out on after the Russian membership was banned from the Champions League following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Barcelona claims it’s owed $525,000 from Zenit due to a clause within the switch deal that noticed Brazil winger Malcom be part of the Russian membership in 2019.
That deal required Zenit to pay Barcelona 490,000 euros ($525,000) every time it certified for the Champions League group stage in a season the place Malcom had performed in a minimum of half its home league video games.
