“Our proposal was we carve off a small amount of our overall $1.347 billion offer that would mean all NRL and NRLW-contracted players, regardless of which country they choose to play for, will be paid the same amount for an international game,” Abdo stated.

“It’s been 20 months. Let’s get it done.”

Yvonne Sampson added {that a} mediator has been mentioned to attempt to try to deliver this dispute to a head, to which Cooper Cronk referred to as “an issue in itself.”

“That’s an issue in itself. The fact that we have to get external people to mediate and negotiate one of the key contracts or agreements in our game,” Cronk stated.

“The players are not the only stakeholders frustrated with NRL HQ. I don’t like that the players are not fulfilling their obligations media-wise. I don’t like that there’s now shots being thrown from the NRL at the players.

“I just don’t like it from both ends because at the end of the day, the people who miss out are the people at home watching the games.

“It’s going to take a lot of leadership from both parties to get this sorted out.”
