Bulldogs bombshell as Origin enforcer Tevita Pangai Jr retires mid-contract to enter boxing

Tevita Pangai Jr has dropped a bombshell on the Bulldogs, quitting mid-contract to pursue a boxing profession.

The 27-year-old enforcer, who debuted for NSW at Origin degree this 12 months, will go away on the finish of the season with a 12 months left on his deal in accordance with Buzz Rothfield.

In a silver lining for Canterbury it frees up $750,000 of their wage cap which they might use to launch a raid on Broncos gun Payne Haas.

Pangai Jr is tipped to retire after the Bulldogs’ conflict in opposition to the Titans on the Gold Coast in Round 27.

He has a 2-0 document in boxing, recording a TKO victory over Gerico Cecil in his debut in late 2021, adopted by a KO of Jerry Tupai final December, on the undercard of the Sonny Bill Williams v Mark Hunt bout. Pangai Jr has an in depth relationship with ex-Bulldog Williams.

At the time Pangai Jr missed Tonga’s Rugby World Cup marketing campaign in an effort to proceed his boxing profession and work on his health.

The Bulldogs have been his third NRL membership after a run at Brisbane, adopted by a launch in mid-2021, after which he performed six video games at Penrith after which moved to the Bulldogs.
