‘Going back to play some footy’: Pangai Jnr reveals plans for return through Queensland Cup

Tevita Pangai Junior is edging nearer to an NRL return after revealing he’s begun talks with Queensland Cup facet, Souths Logan Magpies.

The Magpies, coached by cross-code worldwide Karmichael Hunt, is a feeder membership to the Brisbane Broncos.

Pangai Junior introduced his shock retirement from rugby league in August, strolling out on a $750,000 contract with the Bulldogs for this 12 months to chase a boxing profession.

The 28-year-old formally introduced his subsequent battle on Monday. He will tackle Kiwi Raphael at JBS Basketball Arena, Ipswich on Saturday, March 23.

He then hopes to drag on a Magpies jersey in April and work in the direction of a possible return to the NRL through the Broncos.

“Obviously there’s great coaching there in Karmichael Hunt,” Pangai Junior instructed reporters.

“I was lucky enough to play some games (for the Magpies) before the big Broncos bosses kicked me out.

“Justin Hodges, we all know what a good competitor he is and what he’s done in the ring as well.

“I’ll probably go back to Souths Logan… hopefully get a win (in boxing) and then two weeks after that look at going back to play some footy.”

Pangai Junior continues to be blissful along with his determination to stroll away from $750,000 saying “no, how much money do you need?” when requested whether or not he had any regrets.

It comes after Pangai Junior was noticed watching a Broncos coaching session in January. He then instructed News Corp that he hadn’t dominated out enjoying NRL once more and was assured he may juggle it along with his boxing commitments.

Souths Logan kick off their season on Saturday, March 9 in opposition to the Redcliffe Dolphins. Pangai Junior might be parachuted into the group for his or her Round 5 conflict with Sunshine Coat on April 13, following a bye in Round 4.
