‘Hang up the phone’: Roosters advised to ‘p**s off’ in epic spray over daring Dom Young transfer

Rugby league commentator Andrew Voss has fired up over experiences the Roosters have supplied a participant swap with the Knights to carry winger Dom Young to the membership for the 2023 season.

Young’s transfer hasn’t been formally introduced but it surely does appear sure that the towering English star will finally find yourself on the Roosters.

Reports on Wednesday night time urged the Roosters had requested the Knights if they might launch Young early, with the Bondi membership keen to incorporate a participant swap to assist facilitate the transfer.

That didn’t sit effectively with Voss who stated the Roosters would by no means conform to one thing like that if the shoe was on the opposite foot, with the veteran caller urging the Knights to carry onto their younger star.

“What would be the chances of the Roosters releasing one of their marquee players to a rival a week out from the start of the season?” Voss requested on SEN.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if the Knights were to sign Joey Manu and they requested an immediate release?

“Newcastle must keep Dom Young. He’s on the way up and he’s come off a magnificent World Cup where he was superb on and off the field.

“Newcastle have brought him along and need to get everything out of him this year.

“I’m standing up right now and saying that I’ve had enough of this and I’m not going to take it anymore.

“If I’m Newcastle, I’m saying to whoever rings up from the Roosters, I’d hang the phone up and wouldn’t even talk to them about it.

“I’d say ‘Piss off’. I’d say ‘Don’t even come to us with the gall to take our star winger. We’re a struggling club and we’re going to be one of the favourites for the spoon so he’s not going. Forget about it’.

Panthers legend Greg Alexander also shot down the possible move which would have seen either Nat or Egan Butcher go to the Knights to add some firepower to their back row.

“The Knights tried to swap (Young) for one of the Butcher boys, Nat or Egan,” Alexander stated.

“Newcastle obviously think they are short on back rowers and that was knocked back by the Roosters.

“There is now talk of a transfer fee being offered by the Roosters.

“Do the Knights really need cash? Are you swapping Dom Young for money?

“I don’t think so.”
