“They were great and I haven’t let them down in any way, I’ve come down here and am training me back side off to repay them for giving me the opportunity.

“I’m pretty happy, I feel like a kid again — it’s awesome.”

Requesting an early launch from the Knights was the straightforward half with Klemmer saying: “they didn’t stand in my way.”

Breaking the news to his children however…

“It was probably the hardest telling (them),” he shared.

“They were pretty settled up there with all their friends. They got a bit emotional and it took a toll on them but they’ll be right, they’ll come down here and make new friends.

“We’ll be back up there after footy.”

The Klemmers are going to hold onto the home they’re constructing and can return to Newcastle as soon as his profession is over — which might be after this Tigers contract given he’ll be 33 by the top of it if the membership and he each take up the choice for 2025.

But for now, it’s full steam forward with Tigers and life in Bossley Park with the in-laws.

His three boys — Jackson, Cooper and DJ — are all on board now too with Klemmer confirming “they’ve got their Tigers jerseys ready.”

“I’ll probably do it until I finish up (footy) I reckon,” he mentioned.
