Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould confirmed the membership’s worst fears in a tweet.
“Unfortunately Luke Thompson’s injury is quite serious. Prognosis is for minimum 6 months recovery,” Gould tweeted.
“Possibly longer depending on surgery type. Very sad for Luke and the club. Thunderbolts happen.”
Thompson has solely managed 38 video games for the Bulldogs throughout three seasons, having battled with a number of heavy concussions.
