Foxsports.com.au requested Webster if he’d even surpassed his personal expectations of 2023 or all the time knew he had the teaching skill to make a prelim in his first crack.

“Oh mate, I don’t know. I’ve always been confident in my own ability, mate. But I’ve learned a lot along the way from other people and I’m really grateful for what they’ve done for me,” Webster stated.

“I said to the boys earlier in the season, if you gain momentum and prove rapidly and do it together, trust me, you won’t know what you can do.

“I’m grateful everyone bought in and to be here is a cool feeling, but it also just doesn’t feel that great right now.”

But the coach emphasised he was nonetheless extremely happy with his gamers and echoed Nicoll-Klokstad in vowing it was only the start.

“It’s been a great year, I’m super proud of the boys. Tried hard all year, improved out of sight, improved together,” he stated.

“They were super ambitious and wanted to improve together on this stage. We didn’t get it right (against the Broncos) and got beaten by a really good side.

“I feel like the football program is in a good position for us to launch something here, stay consistent, challenge for grand finals and win grand finals.

“There’s a lot of work to do though, we’ve got to come back hungry and it’s got to be in our actions, not just words.”
