‘Made in India’ AirPods: Apple to fabricate system at Foxconn’s Hyderabad plant

iPhone maker Apple will begin manufacturing its wi-fi ear buds AirPods at Foxconn’s Hyderabad manufacturing unit, in accordance with sources.

Foxconn has accepted an funding of USD 400 million for Hyderabad plant which is anticipated to start mass manufacturing by December 2024.

“Foxconn Hyderabad factory will make AirPods. The factory is expected to begin mass production by December,” a supply informed PTI.

The data was confirmed by another supply who’s aware of the event.

An e-mail question despatched to Apple and Foxconn didn’t elicit any reply.

AirPods would be the second product class after iPhone that will likely be made in India.

Apple’s AirPods leads TWS (true wi-fi stereo) market globally.

It led the worldwide TWS market with about 36 per cent market share within the December 2022 quarter, in accordance with analysis agency Canalys.

Apple was adopted by Samsung with 7.5 per cent market share, Xiaomi 4.4 per cent, Boat 4 per cent and Oppo 3 per cent.

Xiaomi began making its TWS in India this 12 months at Optiemus Electronics plant in Noida.
