Under the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), TikTok’s proprietor ByteDance, Alphabet unit Google, different giant on-line platforms might be required to police unlawful content material on their platforms, prohibit sure promoting practices, and share information with authorities.
But after TikTok agreed to a voluntary “stress test” final month, EU trade chief Thierry Breton mentioned “more work” was wanted for the agency to be totally compliant.
“TikTok is dedicating significant resources to compliance,” Breton instructed Mahaz News. “Now it’s time to accelerate to be fully compliant.”
On Friday, the agency revealed new measures it had taken to adjust to the DSA: making it simpler for European customers to report unlawful content material, permitting them to show off personalised suggestions for movies and eradicating focused promoting for customers aged 13-17.
“We will continue to not only meet our regulatory obligations, but also strive to set new standards through innovative solutions,” the corporate mentioned.
