Catherine, Princess of Wales, brings royal magnificence — and Zara earrings — to the BAFTAs purple carpet

Catherine, Princess of Wales, put a thrifty spin on regal magnificence on the BAFTAs on Sunday night time, pairing an upcycled Alexander McQueen robe with $28 earrings from vogue retailer Zara.

The Princess was one among a number of stars choosing a black and white palette on an evening that included a tribute to William’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Elsewhere on Sunday’s purple carpet, it was an evening of comparatively pared-back vogue. Jamie Lee Curtis shocked in a black and white ensemble, whereas Julianne Moore mixed a black draped bustier robe with a white feather jacket.

But there have been pops of colour, too — from Florence Pugh’s show-stopping orange Nina Ricci gown, designed by Harris Reed, to Jodie Turner-Smith elaborate purple Gucci robe.
