The high tier of the BCCI’s annual central contracts has remained unchanged, with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja within the A+ class.
In all, 30 senior males’s cricketers have been included within the contracts’ listing, up from 26 in 2023. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan weren’t a part of this listing.
A BCCI launch on Wednesday mentioned, “please note that Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were not considered for the annual contracts in this round of recommendations.”
The second tier of the central contracts (Grade A) has R Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya. Grade B has a brand new entrant in 23-year outdated Yashasvi Jaiswal. It his his first BCCI central contract, recognising his work in Test cricket since debuting in July 2023. He struck back-to-back double-centuries within the ongoing sequence towards England.
Along with Jaiswal, the opposite members of Grade B are Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.
The ultimate tier is populated by a variety of T20 specialists beginning with, contains Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, KS Bharat, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Rajat Patidar.
Siraj, Rahul and Gill are the brand new names in Grade A, all of them having been promoted from Grade B. Pant, who hasn’t performed in over a 12 months since a horrific automotive crash in December 2022, and Axar, have moved right down to Grade B
Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, Deepak Hooda and Yuzvendra Chahal have been omitted altogether, whereas there are a number of recent names taking up: Jaiswal in Grade B, Rinku, Tilak, Gaikwad, Dube, Bishnoi, Jitesh, Mukesh, Prasidh, Avesh and Rajat Patidar in Grade C.
