Shreyas Iyer complains of lower-back ache, despatched for scans

India’s efforts to get near Australia’s first-innings complete of 480 in Ahmedabad suffered a blow with lower-back ache holding Shreyas Iyer from batting on the morning of day 4.

Ravindra Jadeja batted forward of Iyer on the third day, and whereas that wasn’t uncommon – India typically use the left-handed Jadeja to interrupt up a largely right-handed high order – Iyer did not come out to bat even when Jadeja was dismissed on the fourth morning. Instead, wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat walked in at No. 6 after which, within the second session, Axar Patel changed Bharat.

The BCCI despatched out this assertion shortly after: “Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in his lower back following the third day’s play. He has gone for scans and the BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him.”

It will not be but clear if Iyer would have the ability to bat on this Test match in any respect.
