U.S. alleges Rite Aid crammed ‘tons of of 1000’s’ of illegal prescriptions and ‘opened the floodgates’ for unlawful opioid market

Drugstore chain Rite Aid Corp. fueled the nation’s opioid disaster for a number of years by knowingly filling tons of of 1000’s of unlawful prescriptions for medication like oxycodone and fentanyl, the U.S. alleged in a grievance introduced Monday by the Justice Department.

Rite Aid RAD didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark. Shares fell 1.2% after hours.
