ICC World Cup 2023: Rahmanullah Gurbaz reprimanded for breaching code of conduct

Afghanistan participant Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been handed an official reprimand for breaching Level 1 of the Code of Conduct throughout its ICC ODI World Cup 2023 league match towards England in Delhi, the ICC introduced on Sunday.

Gurbaz was discovered to have breached Article 2.2, which pertains to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

In addition to the reprimand, one demerit level has been added to Gurbaz’s disciplinary document, his first offence within the 24-month interval.

When a participant reaches 4 or extra demerit factors inside a 24-month interval, they’re transformed into suspension factors and a participant is banned.

The incident occurred within the nineteenth over of Afghanistan’s innings, when after his dismissal, Gurbaz slammed his bat on the boundary rope and a chair.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimal penalty of an official reprimand, a most penalty of fifty per cent of a participant’s match charge, and one or two demerit factors
