Young India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed his maiden double century on Day 2 of the continued second Test towards England in Visakhapatnam. Jaiswal, who resumed from his in a single day rating of 179, raced away to 200 following the dismissal of Ravichandran Ashwin, Jaiswal, 22, is the third youngest Indian to attain a double century in Tests after Vinod Kambli (21 years 32 days) and Sunil Gavaskar (21 years 277 days). Overall, Pakistan’s Javed Miandad leads the listing, having achieved the feat on the age of 19 years 140 days.

On Day 1, Jaiswal hit an unbeaten 179 as India took opening day honours within the second Test regardless of common England strikes.

Jaiswal took on the England spinners to smash Tom Hartley for 3 successive boundaries and set the tempo.

“I wanted to play it session by session. When they were bowling well, I just wanted to get through that spell,” Jaiswal mentioned after the tip of play.

“Initially, the wicket was damp and there was spin and bounce, with a bit of seam. However, I wanted to convert the loose balls, and play till the end. I would love to double this up, and play till the end for the team.”
