Gadar 2 minted ₹40 crore on its opening day in theatres, as per commerce analyst Taran Adarsh. It is the sequel to the hit movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which launched in theatres in 2001. In the movie, Sunny Deol performs the function of Tara Singh, a truck driver, whereas Ameesha Patel performed Sakeena.
